Opossums (possums as known in the south), turtles and raccoons (coons) are just a few animals to see on the hiking trail to the New Manchester Manufacturing Company. It was originally known as the "Sweetwater Manufacturing Company" and was opened on December 21, 1849 and was incorporated in 1857. The ruins of this company still stand by the river and can be viewed at Sweetwater State Park just south of Lithia Springs, GA, just off I-20 west of Atlanta. There are other sites in the park along the hiking trails. The park also offers picnic areas and children's play areas. Visit the park and have a fun day. Happy Traveling! For more information about the park see the official website at: http://gastateparks.org/info/sweetwater/
