Fall Color

East Tennessee has been absolutely beautiful this fall.  The leaves are the brightest colors I have ever seen and the leaves are staying on the trees longer this year as well.

I took a trip to a very special place in Tennessee called Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness. This land is owned and protected by Bowaters Paper company and contains some very unique geology.  The primary focal point is Virgin Falls.  Here the water runs out of a cave for about sixty feet and then falls over one hundred feet into a hole in the ground.  There is no creek on either end.  The leaves there were extremely bright this year.  Check out the pictures in the hiking section of www.jeepgirltravels.com

The pocket wilderness is a great place to backpack.  Tennessee Tech takes their backpacking class there.  Get this book to help hone your backpacking skills. Basic Backpacking
